The Met Office has a yellow weather alert against snow and ice initially in areas around the West Midlands, such as Birmingham, the Black Country, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
A new alert has been in place that includes the eastern section of Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham and Leicester.

The snow will come in from the west and cross Wales into the Midlands on Sunday evening. It may catalyse travel mayhem on Monday, the first normal working week of the year.
As per the Met Office, “Snow showers are expected to push further inland across Wales, parts of northwest England, the West Midlands and Southwest England during Sunday afternoon and evening.
“Along windward coasts, some rain and sleet is likely, but inland showers will fall as snow.
Whilst not located in the warning area will see snow, 1-3 cm could develop in many places by Monday morning, with the potential for 5-8 cm to build up in a few locations, particularly across inland and higher parts of Wales.
“Icy stretches are likely to form widely.”
“They added in a new update: “A band of snow showers will move south during Sunday evening and into the early hours of Monday, giving a covering of 1-3cm of snow in places and leading to ice on untreated surfaces.
“Further snow showers are likely across eastern England on Monday morning.”
