Gregg Wallace has been fired as a MasterChef Presenter following an investigation into misconduct on the show. In the investigation, Wallace was found guilty of unsuitable language. It took place as more than 50 people approached the BBC with some claims about the MasterChef Presenter. There were allegations that he groped one MasterChef worker. However, Gregg Wallace denied those claims.
The Presenter has launched a major attack on the BBC amid reports that he has been fired from MasterChef. Wallace, 60, released a lengthy statement on Instagram on Tuesday. The Presenter revealed that he had been terminated by the broadcaster in his statement. He added that he had been working for the past 21 years in that show, and he was sacked only after a six-month investigation into his on-set behaviors.
A BBC spokesperson told The Independent that Banijay UK has instructed the law firm Lewis Silkin to investigate allegations against Wallace. The spokesperson added that they would not comment until the investigation comes to an end and the findings are published.
Wallace said that he had planned to share the findings prematurely, following the alleged exoneration of all the serious allegations that made headlines in the previous year.
However, Wallace apologized for the language he was found primarily guilty of. He said that he recognized that some of his humor and language were inappropriate even so often,
Later in his post, the Presenter said he had recently been identified with autism.
He ranted about the BBC’s decision to sack him, saying that he did not take it lightly following 21 years of loyal service.
He wrote that he couldn’t sit in silence while his reputation was further damaged to protect others.
Wallace added that he had now been cleared by the Silkins report involving the most serious and sensational allegations against him.
He continued his prolonged statement by slamming the BBC, and he declared that his neurodiversity had been overlooked.
According to insiders, the report is due out on Tuesday, but Gregg was given a prior steer.
Wallace has hosted the BBC cooking show alongside John Torode since 2005. He also fronted other programs, including Big Weekends Away, Inside The Factory, and more. Wallace stepped away from hosting the BBC cooking competition after some historical complaints came to light last year.
The MasterChef Presenter faced a string of allegations, including making inappropriately sexual jokes. The allegations include asking for phone numbers of female staff of the production house and standing too close to women working with him.
Kirstie Allsopp made an allegation against Wallace that he commented on her sexual life. That comment made her so embarrassed that she even thought of crying.
Producer Georgia Harding alleged the Presenter undressed in front of colleagues. Allegations were also made by staff members regarding Wallace’s behavior.
