Newcastle do not mind selling Alexander Isak on deadline day so long as Liverpool offer a PS130m bid even after insisting that Swede would not be sold.
A bid of PS130m on deadline day will make Newcastle highly consider selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool, even after they had stated that their striker was not on sale.
The Swede has indicated that he would like to go but St James Park will not release him until their valuation is achieved and they have already rejected a PS110m initial offer by the Reds, according to the Telegraph.
Late of the day the Saudi owners of Newcastle have reversed and will change their mind should a British record fee be offered. It would be the second occasion in a single summer that the Reds have exceeded the record fee after acquiring PS116m from Florian Wirtz.
During the summer the Magpies had insisted that they would not be willing to see Isak off with less than PS150m, although their late conversation indicates a readiness to end the saga.
Iska has already indicated that, having missed the club pre-season tour on account of an alleged injury, he thinks his days at the club are long gone. He has since released a statement to the effect that the hierarchy has broken promises, which has also served as an added impetus to his wish to leave St James’ Park.
Newcastle themselves remain keen on adding more firepower even after signing a PS69m club record deal with Nick Woltemade of Stuttgart. That was a big strike because they had been unable to hit many of their attacking targets during the summer.
The people in charge of the transfer business have to admit that Brentford will not sell Yoane Wissa and Wolves have little hope of ever selling Jorgen Strand Larsen. They still search the market and recognize at this point that it will be difficult to make any deals.
Arne Slot fuelled the potential of some late business being done by Liverpool, despite spending huge sums already, as he said: “I don’t think it’s a surprise that we are trying to see if we can strengthen the squad.”
Amid talk of record amounts being spent again the Dutch coach also claimed: “I always add to that ‘for the right money and the right player’s but I don’t know if that’s happening at the moment.”
