There is a fresh wave of buzz around GTA 6, but it’s not about settings or characters. It is all about how smoothly the game runs on a new console. A new report claims that GTA 6 will achieve a solid 60 FPS, but only for one console.
A new report claims that GTA 6 is targeting 60FPS. According to the rumour, GTA 6 will be only 60FPS on the PS5 Pro. The framerates for the base include PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, yet are not confirmed.
The information has been revealed by the YouTuber Detective Seeds as the source. The YouTuber, Detective Seeds, had been accurately reported on the remaster for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Doom: The Dark Ages.
GTA 6 has been and continues to focus on hitting 60FPS while being optimized on the PS5 Pro on various graphical settings. PS engineers are working on the optimization due to the new technology being updated and launched, with a current target date of May 2026.
The report also says that at present, 60 FPS is being achieved on the PS5 Pro only. The report added that this scenario may also change before the release date. It is expected that GTA 6 will have various graphical options on the PS5 Pro at release.
However, none of this information has been confirmed officially by either Sony or Rockstar. Rockstar and Sony have a solid working relationship.
Detective Seeds, adding a bit more weight to the rumour, claims that the insider is the same person who tipped him earlier about Sony’s new PSSR upscaling tech. The system architect Mark Cerny has mentioned the PSSR upscaling in a recent explainer video. The YouTuber added that tech is anticipated to roll out next year for the PS5 Pro.
Indeed, not every tip from the revealer is perfect. Interestingly, this rumoured tech support from PlayStation is not limited to GTA 6. Seed says that Sony engineers are helping other Rockstar projects.
As of now, everything remains unofficial. This information is still a rumour as the original revealer includes things that may change before launch.
