Beloved comedy series The Inbetweeners could make a huge comeback in the following year, with all four original stars eager for the potential reunion. Simon Bird, Blake Harrison, James Buckley, and Joe Thomas could be making a sparkling comeback with the plans.
The E4 comedy became a huge hit with fans since its three series from 2008 to 2010. The show’s creators, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, stated that it is incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for their four beloved characters – Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Simon Cooper, and Neil Sutherland.
The creators of the show, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, who were the masterminds behind the making of the show, are said to have signed a contract with production company Banijay UK.
Patrick Holland, the chief executive, said that he was delighted to pick up the conversation about the future of the Inbetweeners with them. As per his statement to Sun, they have an infectious, creative mindset for the brand, which will resonate with audiences of old and new.
The creators, Iain and Damon, further added that the company has managed to sign a deal that can bring the Inbetweeners back across the film, TV, and stage.
The cast of the show have been keen about the idea of the reunion as Joe Thomas, who played Simon in the comedy show, said that they would all want to take part. When he was asked if there had been any conversation regarding this, he replied, “Yes, it happened in various forms”.
He added that all of them feel it would be great to do. They are all still around, and they are all around each other’s lives. Moreover, they like each other, and if something came up, he thinks they would want to do that.
The fans were left convinced over the summer when Joe and James Buckleuy, who played Jay, shared a very cryptic post on Instagram. In the photos on Instagram, Joe and James stood beside each other for the photoshoot.
James captioned the post, “Working on something”. When one fan asked, “Inbetweeners 3?”, another listed their wishes that a reunion must come about.
Since the ending of the series, Morris and Beesley have worked on various projects, both together and separately. They both have teamed on “The Festival” comedy film and later on the BBC series “The First Team”.
